We are grateful to our community sponsors whose support makes the Veritas league possible.

Who We Are

A Movement, Not
Just a League.

Veritas is led by Bryan Cory — a Harvard Law School graduate, corporate attorney, and experienced debate coach who calls Egypt home. Backed by a dedicated leadership team and proud community sponsors, including Concrete Fashion Group and EgyptAir, Veritas is more than a league.

Our motto, Veritas, Virtus, Victoria — Truth, Virtue, Victory — is not just a tagline. It is the standard we hold ourselves and our students to in every round, every tournament, and every decision we make.

Our Mission

To serve Egyptian students by providing competitive debate training and tournaments, and by building a debate community grounded in the intellectual virtues.

What We Do

World Schools Debate, Egypt's Way.

We train students, coaches, and judges in an internationally recognised format that develops structured argumentation, critical thinking, and persuasive communication.

Open Tournaments
Four open tournaments per year for all registered schools. Topics announced ~1 month in advance, covering education, technology, culture, and society.
AUC Championship
Prestigious end-of-year championship at the American University in Cairo for the top 8 qualifying high school teams.
Coach & Judge Training
Certified training for all coaches and adjudicators. Every judge completes our curriculum and passes a rigorous interview before certification.
Free Trainings
All training sessions are completely free. Debate should be accessible to every student regardless of their school's resources.
Recognition for All
Every student receives a certificate of participation. Top teams and individual speakers receive trophies and awards at every level.
School Collaboration
We work exclusively through schools, ensuring consistent coaching, committed peers, and a structured environment for sustained development.

FAQ

Everything You
Need to Know.

What debate format does Veritas use?
A modified World Schools Debate format — team debate with three speakers per side. One of the most widely used formats in international competition, developing both prepared and impromptu argumentation skills.
What does a tournament day look like?
Every team debates three rounds regardless of their record, arguing both sides of the motion. All students receive a certificate; top teams and speakers receive trophies and special recognition.
When are tournament topics announced?
Topics are released approximately one month before each tournament. Past topics have covered tourism, community service, music sharing on the internet, and education policy.
What does it cost to participate?
All Veritas training sessions are completely free. Tournament fees are kept minimal — set only to cover direct costs such as food, trophies, printing, and photography.
Who are the judges and how are they selected?
All judges complete our training curriculum and pass a rigorous interview before certification. We use certified school coaches — blocked from judging their own teams — and independent community adjudicators.
What does a school need to do to join?
Schools begin with an introductory call. Each registered team of three students then requires one teacher or administrator who has completed our coach certification training.
What grade levels are eligible?
Veritas serves junior high and high school students. Contact us for specific age or grade eligibility details for each tournament category.
What is the AUC Championship?
An invitation-only year-end tournament at the American University in Cairo, reserved for the top 8 qualifying high school teams — the pinnacle of the Veritas competitive calendar.
